Launch of Nurture Development’s new offer: Going Deeper, Growing Impact

On behalf of the Nurture team, I’m really excited to share our new offer with you. We hope you like it, but more importantly we’d really love to hear what you think, especially if you have thoughts around how we could enhance our offer.

Relationships are at the heart of what we do at Nurture Development. Over the last 21 years, we have been privileged to meet people at all stages of the community building journey.

From concept sharing keynote addresses to building networks of strong relationships in Learning Sites that span many years, we remain committed to the view that our role is to accompany you, and the people you serve, to discover, connect and mobilise community assets, from inside out.

This month we have shared some of our more significant learning points from over the last 21 years: what we’ve termed The 13 Staging Posts (Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3, followed by our theory of (practice based) change.

Throughout the next year, we will unpack these in granular detail, week by week, blog by blog. We’re doing this because what we’ve learned from citizens and practitioners belongs to everyone. Hence, these lessons are not ours to own, but our privilege to share: they belong to everyone.

Before starting that journey – which will begin next week with some more findings from the learning sites – we’d like to share more on how we work and how we’d like to work with you, in your communities and/or with your organisation(s).

Early contact with Nurture Development

1. Keynote Addresses

2. Introductory Workshops

3. Masterclasses

4. In-house one and two day workshops

5. Rapid Participatory Review: Strategic Temperature Check

Deepening the Relationship

1. Five to 12 module training process, combining ABCD, Peter Block’s methodologies: 6 Conversations & The Answer to How is YesMarte Meo; and the Helping 4.0 approach.

2. Helping 4.0/ABCD Mentoring and Coaching online and offline. This support is available at all levels from practitioner to senior leaders and elected members.

Long Term Relationship

1. Developing Learning Sites: a living expression of Asset Based Community Driven effort and Helping 4.0.

2. ABCD Guide Training

3. Establishment of a Stewardship (Leadership) circle at City/County level

Our offer is designed to enable people to go on a journey at their own pace, developing on their own strengths. We want to extend the offer/option to all we work with to go from introductory workshop participation to being the stewards and guides of asset based community driven efforts in their own cities/counties. From the kitchen table to the boardroom table, our offer supports you to implement change, create a strategic vision, build legacy/sustainability and measure your impact.

The journey, from workshop participants to ABCD Guides and Stewards of their own community building processes with fellow citizens and practitioners, will have many different entry points, depending on where you’re at and what speed you wish to go. We travel at the speed of trust. So, without further ado here’s our new offer:

Learning Sites (Expressions of Interest)

It also gives us great pleasure to announce that we are now actively inviting expressions of interest from those who would like to partner with us in establishing a number of new Learning Sites in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, The Netherlands, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. For more information click here.

ABCD Guide (Expressions of Interest)

We are also inviting expressions of interests from cities and counties in the U.K. where we have previously supported or are currently supporting the development of Learning Sites, to sponsor the delivery of ABCD Guide training, for experienced practitioners and citizens who wish to support others in their community building efforts.

We have successfully rolled out ABCD Guide training in Leeds and Bristol and have commenced our third ABCD Guide training in Kirklees. We look forward to the day when there are ABCD Guides in every part of Europe.

If you are not in one of our Learning Site areas but have been developing ABCD or ABCD-like initiatives for over two years and are interested in ABCD Guide training, we would be delighted to explore this with you. Please do reach out and have a chat with us.

At the end of this month we will be launching the offer on our website which will have even more information. In the meantime, we look forward to hearing your feedback and chatting with you further about how we can collaborate with you.

Warm wishes,

Cormac and the Nurture Development team
