Mick Hanratty

Mick joins Nurture Development as an associate, following a 30+ year career in the UK Civil Service, Local Authorities, and the world of academia. During his career he has experience of many different aspects of Community development – from large scale funding initiatives (such as SRB, New Deal for Communities) to managing regulatory powers (such as Land Use Planning regulations and Crime and Disorder policies) and Policy writing and community work in a Local Authority.

His most recent appointment was as Director of Well North, an £18m Public Health England initiative,  looking at the health of the poorest fastest in 9 different Northern locations. It was in this last post, he came across the work of Cormac Russell, Nurture Development and ABCD and how its real world adoption helps actually change lives rather than making promises.

Mick brings with him a range of skills including extensive working with people at the highest levels, leadership, budgeting, conflict management and people skills. His personal motto is never to take more than you give, and he believes with a great passion in equity, justice and a better way, designed and lived by people.
